CISP, in partnership with the Department of Education Sciences at the University of Roma Tre, is launching a new training programme for the 2025–26 school year aimed at secondary school teachers (both lower and upper secondary) across the Lazio region (central Italy).
Dubbed “GCE Thursdays” (I giovedì dell’ECG), the initiative is part of the wider European project Global Education Time (GET). Its primary goal is to help teachers integrate topics concerning global challenges into their curricula while fostering an active, citizenship-focused approach among their students.
The courses will focus on four key themes from the 2030 Agenda: climate change, gender inequality, international inequality, and migration. The overall aim is to equip educators with the necessary tools to address these subjects in the classroom, bridging local and global dimensions, and encouraging critical reflection and youth activism.
All proposed courses are free of charge and will take place on Thursday afternoons starting in November 2025. A certificate of attendance will be issued upon completion of each course.
A Comprehensive Training Offer for Educators
All GET programmes are designed to be interactive and participatory, valuing teachers' experience and encouraging the exchange of best practices. Each course comprises a total of 20 hours: 12 hours of in-person sessions (six 2-hour meetings) and 8 hours dedicated to individual study and/or classroom experimentation. The sessions will be held at the University of Roma Tre and at the premises of various local organisations.
Participants will have the chance to:
- Deepen their knowledge of global issues from multiple perspectives (scientific, cultural, emotional, and didactic).
- Become familiar with GET teaching resources, such as the "Big Ideas," Learning Units, and a global geo-history textbook, all freely available to download from the website: globaleducationtime.eu.
- Meet experts, academics, and activists working directly on the featured topics, enriching the training with up-to-date testimony and data.
- Experiment with experiential and workshop-based methodologies, supporting the practical implementation of the curricula in class and linking school subjects to concrete citizenship actions.
